Hey, I did a search of the Church Hill Tennessee
newspaper and this is what I found. It doesn't give any cause of death,
but there is an email address for friends to send condolences. --- submitted
by Joe Thompson's sister, Lisa CHURCH HILL - Ronnie Ray Scates, 53, passed away Friday (Sept. 26, 2003) at his residence. He was born in McKenzie, Tenn., and had resided in Church Hill. Mr. Scates was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Germany. He was a millwright by profession and his last employment was an inspector at AFG. He attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Tilman L. Scates. Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Chapman Scates, of the home; mother, Mary Adeline (Barker) Ferrell; children, Juli Scates, Memphis, Joseph Blankenbeckler, Jacob Blankenbeckler, and Hope Blankenbeckler, all of East Tennessee; seven grandchildren; sister, Cathy Kassinger, Memphis; brother, Jackie Tilman Scates, McKenzie, Tenn. Services will be private. Pallbearers will be Joseph Blankenbeckler, Jacob Blankenbeckler, Johnny Chapman, Kenneth Shelton, Billy Shelton, Donnie Wallen and Jack Scates. Honorary pallbearers will be Alex Terry, Quinten Shelton, Michaela Blankenbeckler, Victoria Christian, Josie Lynn Blankenbeckler, Tristian Neeley and Alexis Weatherly.
